Latest College Recruiting News

Over the past week there have been some verbal committments of consequence. Here's the latest news:

Jonah Travis, the #42 wing in his class has committed to Harvard over a host of mid-major schools.

Matt Costello, a solid 6'9 center has chosen Michigan State over Butler, Michigan and Indiana. Costello is ranked as the #22 center by ESPNU.

Jalen Reynolds, a 6'9 power forward verballed to Xavier over USC, Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Providence.

Tommie McCune, a 6'7 swing is going to West Virginia. He had offers from Rhode Island, Baylor, USC and Xavier.

7'0 Peter Jurkin, ranked as the #7 center in the 2012 class committed to Indiana. Jurlin is currently at United Faith Christian Academy (NC).

6'10 Luke Piotrowski is a great get for the Richmond Spiders. He chose Richmond over Oregon State, Maryland and Arizona State, among others.

6'9 Kyle Wiltjer who we saw last weekend at the Nike Global Challenge has narrowed his lisat of schools to Gonzaga, Cal, Kentucky, Kansas, Texas, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech. Once again Oregon will miss out on the top in-state recruit.

In other news, the roster for the 2010 Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event to be held at Los Angeles' Venice Beach on Friday, August 27 and Saturday, August 28 is getting full. Austin Rivers (pictured on left) will play at the event. Expected to join Rivers are Adonis Thomas, Alex Murphy, Amir Garrett, Bradley Beal, DaJuan Coleman, DeAndre Daniels, Jabari Brown, Jahii Carson, James McAdoo, Johnny O'Bryant, Kentavious Caldwell, Kyle Wiltjer, LaQuinton Ross, LeBryan Nash, Michael Gbinije, Myck Kabongo, Nick Johnson, Quddus Bello, Quincy Miller, Quinn Cook, Rakeem Christmas and Shabazz Muhammad.

The event will consist of a dunk competition on Friday, August 27, 8 p.m. EDT and the game on Saturday, August 28, 7:30 p.m. EDT, both to be televised live on ESPNU.
